Many Echuca-Moama residents would have been left scratching their heads after the first round of the AFL Draft last night.
Consensus late top-20 pick and Moama prospect Jobe Shanahan was left on the board after the first round, clubs opting for a different direction with their selections.
Twenty-seven total selections were made on Wednesday, with four additional draftees added under academy and father/son rules to the 23 scheduled picks heading into the night.
Three Goulburn Valley tall forwards were left as the highest projected picks remaining on the Fox Sports draft board late in the night, with Shanahan (projected 19), joining Shepparton brothers Jack (18) and Matt Whitlock (25).
North Melbourne traded up with the final selection of the first round to take the less-favoured brother going in, Matt, with his ability to operate defensively as well as up front noted as a potential defining factor.
Shanahan will be expected to be off the board quickly when the draft resumes tonight at 7pm.
Richmond, which just traded the previous selection to the Kangaroos, is back on the clock to start proceedings.
The Western Bulldogs twice, West Coast and St Kilda are the other clubs with top-five selections on night two and are also potential destinations for Shanahan.
The AFL Draft continues tonight from 7pm.
