Round 12 action saw the Murray Bombers host Barooga at Victoria Park on Sunday, and it was a performance typical of the champions.
The home side stifled the Hawks, holding them to a single major for the game, while methodically building its lead across the four quarters.
In the end, Echuca took the game 9.12 (66) to 1.2 (8), the latest in a series of convincing wins that have seen the Murray Bombers six points clear at the top.
Co-captain Paige Baksh continued to add to her season goal tally, six in this game, bringing her to a league-leading 48 for the year.
Baksh was well supported by Lily Hillman, who kicked two, while Kate Dixon added the remaining goal for the Murray Bombers.
Dixon and Jorden Irvine were each named among Echuca’s best for a team-high eighth time this season, while Jade Catlow, Molly Karslake and Rhiannon Severino were also recognised for their strong contributions and Baksh was the Murray Bombers’ best-on-ground.
With only two rounds to come Echuca would need to lose both of its remaining fixture to slip from top spot, an unlikely prospect for a side that has only lost once this year.
After a league bye this weekend, Echuca will make the trek to Mansfield on July 14 to take on the second-placed Eagles in the penultimate round.
