With eight rounds to go of the NPL Two season things are becoming do-or-die for the Goulburn Valley Suns.
Sitting winless after 14 games, the last-placed Suns are 10 points behind the second-bottom Werribee City.
This means if the side is to avoid a wooden spoon, the wins need to start flowing and there is no better time than a Saturday afternoon game at McEwen Reserve.
The Suns welcome the North Geelong Warriors this weekend, with the Warriors sitting on top of the table.
When the two sides met in round four the Geelong side picked up a 7-1 victory, and the Suns will be hoping for a much-improved performance this weekend.
Last week the Suns were without captain Matthew Lelliott, while youngsters Brandon Giaccherini, Harun Aktas and Stefan Pigatto, who all featured in the 3-0 defeat to Pascoe Vale, will be hoping to go around again.
With their backs against the wall the Suns will truly be underdogs this weekend, however with a number of narrow defeats since the sides last met and the threat of relegation on their minds, Saturday’s game is likely to be close.
All the action will get under way at McEwen Reserve at 4pm, with the under-21 side beginning at 2pm.
