Frank, who passed away at the age of 88, was the youngest member at the age of 16 to play in the club’s 1952 side which won its first flag in the Kyabram and District Football League.
Now only three players from that side - Eric Todd, Bill Atkins and Kevin Doolan - survive.
Frank is the second player from that side to pass this year after Brian Quirk’s death in April.
Frank, spent all of his working life in Girgarre where he and his late wife Shirley raised six children.
He has been tendered a private family funeral, but a memorial service will be held tomorrow (Thursday) in the Girgarre Football Netball Clubrooms from 2pm.
Drought breakers
Rochester Football Netball Club ended a nine year drought when it beat Kyabram in their GVL clash at Kyabram on Sunday.
The Bombers had not lost to the Tigers since Anzac Day, 2015.
Injury news
Star recruit Mick Mattingly won’t play with Kyabram Football Club again this season.
According to Bombers co-coach Corey Carver the 2019 Morrison Medalist and premiership player has a bulging spinal disc which needs surgery.
Mattingly has played only two games this season since returning from South Australia and was to be a key player in the Bombers rebuild.
Scheduling issues
Kyabram Football Club’s fly-in player Jackson Griffiths missed Sunday’s GVL clash against Rochester due to a flight alteration.
An early Sunday am phone message was not read in time by Griffiths to get a suitable flight from Brisbane to Melbourne to take his place in the Kyabram side.
Griffiths and ruckman Marcus Khoo are Brisbane based players who have joined former Mt Gravatt teammates Jake Torney and Bailey Tome at Kyabram this season.
Khoo got the message in time to organise a flight to take his place in the Kyabram side and had an interesting battle with Rochester talented big man Mitch Cricelli.
Talented juniors
Coach of Bendigo Pioneers Danny O’Bree is pleased with the form Kyabram’s two players, Archie Watt and Nic Jephson, in Coates Talent League’s Under 18 boys team.
Watt has been playing a midfield-onball role and Jephson, who was holding down the challenging centre half forward forward position in the Kyabram senior side, has been played the last these games in defence for the Pioneers.
‘’Both are doing well and showing a lot of promise,’’ O’Bree said.
In another Kyabram connection O’Bree said another of the Pioneers squad James Barrat was having a ‘‘huge season.’’
The son of former Kyabramite Peter Barrat and nephew of former Bomber Ray Barrat.
His form has warranted selection in the Victorian Country side currently contesting the National Championships.
