Wust did not play for the Tigers in their round nine loss to Violet Town and his recent outing in the yellow-and-black was in the round eight defeat to Shepparton East.
Wust departed the club during the recent bye weekend.
The Tigers’ former playing coach was named to play for Maiden Gully YCW in the Loddon Valley Football Netball League at the weekend.
Wust joined Rushworth over the off-season from Eaglehawk and led the Tigers to one win from eight matches at the helm.
Rushworth president Mark Bartlett, who stepped up to the role on the eve of the season, said there was no bad blood between Wust and the club.
“Things just weren’t working out and it got to a stage where it was in the best interests if Damian and the club parted ways,” he said.
“There is no hard feelings between the club and Damian. We thank him for his efforts during his time at the club. These things happen, it’s unfortunate but we are ready to move on now.”
Bartlett revealed key forward Pat Rattray had put his hand up to help coach the side for the remaining rounds of the season.
The club president highlighted that Rattray had a number of people providing support.
Despite the change of mentors halfway through the campaign, the mood and atmosphere is upbeat down at Ironbark Stadium.
“Pat was one of a couple of blokes who offered to put their hand up to coach for the remainder of the season,” Bartlett said.
“We have got a couple of people helping him out which is good. Even though we didn’t get the win (at the weekend) the players are in good spirits.”
