The new look team started the pennant season with wins against Mooroopna and Euroa, but lost the next four games on end before repeating those early season wins in the last fortnight.
Kyabram is only six pennant points outside the top four - behind competition leader Tallygaroopna, Shepparton Golf, Shepparton Park and Tatura-Hill Top - the latter being the team they face in the final home and away round of the season.
If results go as expected it could come down to that game to decide who makes the finals.
Kyabram faces the three top teams in the final month before the finals, making it a tough assignment to still be in contention by round 14.
The eight-shot win against Euroa on Saturday came on the back of wins to Noel Reddrop, Greg Shilling and Mal Williams.
Only Robert George, who lost by one-shot, failed to collect a rink win in the 86-78 (16-2) victory.
Shilling and lead bowlers, Rob Sceney and Graeme King, are the only Kyabram bowlers in the top 20 seeds at the Christmas break.
- A commanding 51-shot win for Kyabram’s fifth ranked division three team has it poised to strike on the top four in the new year.
A 111-60 win against third-ranked Rushworth is a shot across the bow of the top teams with four rounds of the season remaining in the new year.
Kyabram’s 18-nil win has it only three pennant points outside the top four after Bob Mason led the charge with a 34-17 win in tandem with Terry Thomson, Wayne Chambers and Dominic Perry.
Des Campbell had yet another win, by six shots, and Phil Denham made it a clean sweep with a 15-shot win.
Kyabram faces the three bottom teams in its final five games and could make a charge at the finals with its recent run of good form.
It has top of the ladder Mooroopna in the final round before the finals.
Two of its bowlers, Des Campbell (fifth-seed) and Peter Kendall (eighth) are in the division’s top 10 bowlers to the Christmas break.
- Kyabram’s ladder-leading division seven team goes into the break with a 7-1 record after losing its first game of the season to fifth-ranked Murchison on Saturday.
Murray Boswood lost by nine shots and Ted Hazelman suffered an eight shot loss in the 31-48 loss.
The pair remain the fourth and fifth-seeded skips in the competition despite the loss, but face further challenges in the new year.
