Tenealle Nicholson and Brendan Baumann received their awards for contributions on and off the field and court.
Mr Baumann was this year involved with the club’s football department, managing its administrative and financial matters.
Mrs Nicholson stepped off the committee, but maintained a role as match-day secretary and fundraising co-ordinator.
Her husband, Brendan, was vice-president of the club and with children aged three (Lily), five (Iris) and seven (Ruby) having two members on the committee was not realistic.
“This year was my quietest year,” Mrs Nicholson said, having first became involved in 2010, as a netballer.
“The year after I arrived I joined the committee and I was secretary for six years (a year later husband Brendan became president).”
She has also been the social media person and social club co-ordinator, along with unofficial PA to her president, now vice-president husband.
Brendan Nicholson was made a life member eight years ago.
Ironically Tenealle took my call while she was packing the three kids and Brendan into the car and heading to the football club at 6.30pm on a Thursday night to complete the handover to the cricket club.
For Brendan Baumann, and his wife, Courtney, the club has also been a big part of life.
She is treasurer of the club and has held that role for the past seven years. She was playing netball when they first met.
“It was very humbling to receive life membership, it is not why you get involved,” he said.
“These awards don’t come around all that often, so having two of them in the one night was great.
“She (Tenealle) has done a power of work, particualrly with Brendan being a former president.”
Mr Baumann is a father of two, nine-year-old Indi and Chase, who is 6.
Girgarre has re-appointed Damian Cupido and assistant coach John Wilson for the new season, but is on the look out for a reserve-grade and under-18 coach.
For Mr Baumann off the field involvement has been rewarding after several seasons as a player.
“I had two stints as a player (2003-10 and against from 2017-2021), but did my knee twice,” he said.
He coached the Under-18 team 2006-07 and the reserves in 2009.
