Pettifer finished runner-up and was third in the league medal count, while other award winners were Curtis Stone, Marcus Lancaster, captain Bill Den Hartog and Paul Ewert.
Kyabram Wombats award winners were Trent Finn (best and fairest), ahead of Nick Walsh, with Josh Houlihan and Dean Ciavarella also recognised for his season.
– Matt Flanagan was named Girgarre Football Club’s best and fairest player, winning the award ahead of Brett Scoble.
Jeff Turpin was third in the senior award, while Brett Hobbs won the reserve grade title, and David Anstee won the Under 17 award by a single vote from Luke Emonson.
Michelle Backway was A grade best and fairest, with Barb Hilder claiming the B-grade title and Sarah Scoble the C-grade award.
– Murray Barrett coached the Stanhope Under 17 team to a grand final win against Merrigum.
Glen Hodgins was a star for Stanhope, in the ruck, while Darryl Harrison – who would go on to play in a Rochester GVL premiership and win both Murray and Kyabram District League best and fairest awards – was also in the team.
Biran Cowie, Shane O’Biren and Brad Carmody were Stanhope’s best, while for Merrigum David Saywell was his team’s best and had support from Shane McGrath.
On the same day Joe Minutoli coached Undera to its first premiership since 1972 when Danny Alper was best on ground in the 44 point win. Shane Loveless kicked six for Ardmona.
Stanhope also won the A-grade netball title in a match dominated by Maree Flanagan.
– David Lucas won the Alan Vick Memorial Trophy as the Kyabram Football Club’s best and fairest winner.
Ben Roberts won the reserve grade title and Dean Jones was the Under 18 player of the season.
Laurie Brown was named the best clubperson at the presentation evening, while Moana Roberts won the A-grade netball award.
Kristy Warren was the B-grade best and fairest.
– Tongala’s Alicia Brennan and Kyabram’s Kristy Warren were named the Goulburn Valley league’s Wellman Family (A grade) and Sandra Cox (B grade) Medallists.
Brennan beat Tatura’s four-time winner Gaye Eaton to win the ultimate individual award, while Warren said she only attended to support the Bombers Morrison Medal hope David Lucas.
Lucas polled only 11 votes in the award, behind Echuca ruckman and winner Stephen Orr (19 votes).
