The Odd-Jobs against Racketeers was the highlight match of the round, with Odd-Jobs needing to win by three or more to tie or pass their opponents for fourth place.
Things started well for Racketeers when the first doubles went their way, 11-9 in all three games.
They eventually led 4-3, meaning Odd-Jobs would have required a win in all four remaining rubbers to earn a finals place.
Stephen Hope and Jesse Edwards kept them in the contest, winning the second doubles 3-1, but Racketeers proceeded to reel off the remaining three singles to prevail 7-4 and eliminate Odd-Jobs from contention.
Already out of the running, the Dangers looked to knock ladder-leaders Spin Wizards down a few pegs in their final match in the competition.
That’s exactly what happened early as the Dangers took both doubles matches 3-1.
Nathan Mackrell and Ryan Simmons went the distance in an intense singles match-up but Simmons kept his side in the contest, prevailing 3-2.
The match was eventually sealed in the favour of the Dangers as Brendan Shingles and Jen Fang took the remaining singles to earn their side a 7-4 upset victory.
It would have taken an unlikely collapse for the Golden Trio to miss finals and they put that possibility to bed early, grabbing several singles wins and both doubles against Newbies.
With the match decided, Golden Trio were looking to gain vital percentage points and Daniel Barry obliged, earning a late singles win and helping his side to a 7-4 overall result.
With an unfavourable percentage The Riv were all but eliminated from the competition as they took on winless Hawaii 5-0.
5-0 snagged a vital five-gamer in the first doubles, but The Riv responded in the second to tie things up.
The two sides traded singles wins, with Peter Retallick tying things up for 5-0 heading into the final rubber.
The Riv managed to take the tie 6-5 but it wasn’t enough to earn a finals place.
While final round results didn’t change the composition of the top four, there was a shake-up of the placings and the resulting finals pairings. The Golden Trio have risen to the top of the standings, with Racketeers close behind as the two sides on six wins.
Spin Wizards fell from first to third, while Regal Rippers, who had the bye this week, round out the top four.
They will now face the Golden Trio next week in a semi-final match-up, while Racketeers and Spin Wizards will contest the other semi.
