It was a great start to the season for Jerilderie, taking home a convincing win against the Redeyes.
With the return of Simone Lumbar, the attacking circle was no match for Blighty.
Our players worked well together in the ring, snatching in their rebounds and taking some incredible shots despite windy conditions.
The mid-court was strong, with accurate passes into the goalers and able to quickly switch to defense mode, resulting in multiple intercepts.
The defenders played a star performance. Their intensity and second efforts allowed for multiple turnovers.
In a physical game, Blighty’s players grouped to work hard and create some wonderful passages of play down the court.
Amy Weir had a great game in defence, giving everything her best go, and Steph Barry fought hard all day in goals.
With a few injuries and no-one left on the bench, the remaining seven Blighty girls continued to battle out the game, putting their best foot forward.

A new-look Blighty B-grade took to the court with very few players ever playing together before.
Sammy Rourke made her debut in netball as goalkeeper, and applied immense pressure on her player, resulting in numerous intercepts.
Returning from injury, Jasmyn McKenzie, worked hard in the goal ring.
Maddie Charlton returned to the netball court, using her speed and agility to take some terrific intercepts in defence.
While the score might not have reflected the level of play, it’s encouraging to see many positives and areas improve through continued teamwork and practice.

Jerilderie’s mid-court players worked amazingly together, bringing the ball down to the shooters, who did a great job among some tough defenders.
The defenders played a great game also, intercepting the ball and keeping it out of the ring as much as possible.
Jerilderie welcomed new players Bec Mitchell and Tiffany Sutton, who has come back from a previous injury.
While the score did not go the Redeyes way, the team showed great spirit and never gave up.
Defence was a standout, with young gun Milly Hanmer combining with Ruby Williams to work hard and apple pressure on Jerilderie shooters.
It was great to see last season's shooters, Emma Brain and Rachel Bucholtz, return to continue their partnership in the goal ring.

C-Reserve: Blighty 20 def by Jerilderie 21.
Blighty C-Reserve had a thrilling start to the season, going down by just one goal to Jerilderie in a nail-biting 20-21 finish.
The whole Redeyes team contributed, giving it their all and never giving up.
Sarah Bain and Grace Ingram were strong in defence, combining well and putting on pressure all game.
Lauryn Bond worked tirelessly through the mid-court and showed just how much she brings to the side.
Down at half-time, the Jerilderie side rallied with fantastic teamwork to steady the ship and edge in front.
Best on court, Sienna Reid was gradually getting the hang of her new position in GD, with her defensive pressure growing as her confidence surged.
Both Georgia Cronin and Ella Breen ran their hearts out through the centre court, providing great leads and ball movement and never giving up.

Under-17s: Blighty 31 def by Jerilderie 47.
Jerilderie were quick and accurate with their passes into the goal ring, and they combined well in the goal circle to shoot impressively.
The defence caused many turnovers, and players put a lot of pressure on Blighty’s attackers.
It took the Blighty girls a little while to settle into the game, but eventually, they found their groove.
Amelia Hay was solid in the centre and then transitioning to goal defence where she was very at home causing havoc for the Jerilderie shooters.
We have welcomed Emily Harvey this season starting in defence, who proved strong and dedicated to her role.
Unfortunately, Jerilderie were too good on the day, a few of our passes went astray and were quickly capitalised on; however, we continue to work on our first game mistakes and build as a team.
Top award for the day went to Ruby Caruso, who was instrumental in playing in different positions and taking on all tasks asked of her.
She is also a brilliant on court communicator and teammate. Well done Ruby!

Under-15s: Blighty 14 def by Jerilderie 39.
Coming out strong, Blighty led into quarter time.
Kyah Watson was strong in goals with consistent shooting and adjusted to accommodate many different combinations.
The wind did not make shooting easy, but they continued to work hard with many scoring opportunities.
Lily Petersen created countless turnovers and play down the court, with many players rolling into defence and impressing with their skill.
The Redeyes adopted to different mid-court combinations, showing their speed and agility to move the ball into attack.
In a well fought contest, Jerilderie proved to be too strong, coming away with the win.
The Dees started slowly with a whole new team trying to find their groove together.
Captain Ruby Neessen stood strong and moved beautifully in GA, as did vice captain Stella Williams in GS. Between them rarely missed a goal.
Jacinta Eldridge in the C was everywhere, getting passes and interceptions all over the court.
The defence end in Phoebe Hennebery, Sama Swaid and co-vice captain Eliza Godfrey made it tough for Blighty to get it down to their goal ring.
New WA Abby Mitchell, who had never played a game of netball before Saturday, started to find her feet and made some great passes, with a little help from under-13s player Lexie Bryce in the third quarter, who played so well and ran her heart out the girls came off at full time with the win.

Blighty co-captains Ella Charlton and Kaydnce Sibraa shone throughout creating play, supporting new players and contributing immensely to the win.
Shelby Huckin showed her ability to play both ends of the court, dominating in both defence and attack with strong communication down the court.
Peggy McKenzie stepped up from under-11s for her first match and overcame nerves to help move the ball and shoot goals.
All players demonstrated their versatility with lots of positional changes which ceased to affect the flow of play and defensive pressure.
The Jerilderie girls gave it their all for the first game against a very tall and tough Blighty team.
The defence was tight, and there was great play in the goal circle and mid-court.
Nakshu Puram took the court for her first game for the club, showing eagerness to learn the game.

This week, the minis had their first game of the season against Jerilderie.
Blighty had a fantastic first game. They tried really hard on what we had been working on at training, all while having the best time out on court.
It was great to see them working together and forming a team.
The Jerilderie said put on a fantastic display of skill and teamwork in their first match, showcasing both individual brilliance and collective effort.
