After claiming the C-grade Parkland Junior title back in 1996 – local golfing talent Brett Kellow has returned to Parkland to take out the 2024 Victorian Par 3 State Championships.

In perfect winter conditions Kellow who plays at Mooroopna, held out challenges from the competitive field of 46 clubs and 85 players to claim the 2024 title. In an emotional speech Kellow acknowledged his junior days at Parkland and junior mentor Peter Fraser, life member of the club.
During Kellow’s round he hit 30 greens to have scores of 56, 56, 59 -171, two shots in front of Jack Nibbs from Metropolitan Golf Club.
A crowd of 30 were following the final group over the last nine holes when Nibbs was staging a comeback. Kellow bogied the 16th along with Nibbs. Nibbs then again bogied the 17th to extend the lead of Kellow down the 18th to two and taking home the title with a par.
In other local talent – Peter Barrette won the Techies Tyres Nearest the Pin hole taking home a Tyre Voucher and Drummond Golf vouchers along with B-grade 36 hole Nett Event. Paul McInnes featured in a number of winning circles taking home the C-grade Nett event and Jason McKenzie taking home the B-grade Nett event.

Sincere thanks to all our volunteers for a successful running of the event and sponsors. The greens staff lead by Paul Price presented an excellent course for the two weeks and all our committees for the organization of the event – many hours by many people have contributed to another successful tournament for Parkland.
