And social media has erupted over the dismissal where Carey stumped Bairstow after he wandered out of his crease, with plenty of memes doing the rounds.
Victoria Police is one of the organisations to have jumped on the bandwagon of what seemingly all of Australia (and England) has been talking about.
It appears the social media gurus behind the boys and girls in blue’s Twitter and Facebook accounts have been using Bairstow and his walk out of his crease as a bit of a humorous take on following the road rule of not walking until the green man flashes.
They have even thrown shade on their English counterparts, cheekily tagging @metpoliceuk in their Twitter post after encouraging their followers to also “tag a grumpy Englishman”.
With more than 20,000 likes on the post and 3378 retweets and 740-odd comments, it appears VicPol hit the spot.
A slightly longer post on Facebook, which was shared on the local Eyewatch Greater Police Service Area page, included a few more rules people should follow.
It was a clever bit of marketing by VicPol to get its messages across, and certainly attracted a bit of chatter among Oddie’s colleagues.

It is always the way — you head anywhere outside your usual bubble for long enough and you’re bound to run into someone you know.
But Oddie was still surprised by how many Sheppartonians were at the Sunshine Coast airport at the weekend.
A current News editor, a one-time News work experience student and a former Foxy and JR Footy Show camera operator — who had all travelled separately — were sighted waiting at the baggage collection area in Maroochydore late on Thursday night.
When the trio again bumped into each other at the airport on Monday night, the latter remarked that he had also seen a local football league administrator at the supermarket while in town.

Tay Tay ticket easier than tent tix?
The much-lauded Parks Victoria upgrade for booking sought-after sites at the likes of Wilsons Prom ahead of the next school holidays turned out to be a bit of a frustrating fizzer, with the system crashing on day one (July 5).
In what Oddie thinks is a big call, Shadow Environment Minister James Newbury was quick to claim: “Melbourne’s city streets have been clogged because Labor can’t manage construction projects, and now we learn it can’t get traffic on the online highway under control either. With Parks Victoria’s booking system shutting down on its first day, it turns out it is easier to get a Taylor Swift ticket than book a campsite in Victoria.”
