Wednesday, May 18, is Wear Orange Wednesday, where communities across Australia are encouraged to wear orange to thank their local SES volunteers, who generously give up their time to help people in need.
People can host orange-themed events at their workplace, household or with friends and family.
Use the hastag #thankyouSES to share any photos or videos of you wearing orange to acknowledge WOW day.
The past 12 months has been the busiest period in the organisation’s history, with 46,000 requests for assistance across the country.
The SES is responsible for roadside rescue, finding missing persons, supporting other emergency service agencies, rescues during floods and storms, and bushfire assistance.
If you’d like to make a donation to the Kyabram SES you can through the SES website.
Kyabram SES is always looking for new members, and juniors are able to start from the age of 15.
Member Paul Octigan says Ky SES has members ranging in age from 17 to 77.
