The TAC L2P program, a collaborative initiative between Campaspe Cohuna LLEN and the Transport Accident Commission, was established to provide students with crucial, supervised driving experience essential for safe road navigation.
The program relies on dedicated volunteers who guide learners through the critical 120 supervised hours necessary for progressing to their provisional licence.
Having successfully implemented the program at Rushworth P-12 College and Rochester P-12 College, benefiting numerous students, the initiative is now expanding its reach to Kyabram.
Norma Anderson, a dedicated volunteer with two years of mentoring experience in the program, has recently started her role at St Augustine's College, where she is guiding four students through their driving journey.
She said being part of L2P is rewarding as she helps young people who might never get the chance to get their hours up.
St Augustine’s College representative Michelle Downie said the program had been “invaluable” in a number of ways to the students in learning how to drive and wanted to thank both Norma and the CCLLEN for their support.
“The program has provided them with not just driving experience, but also confidence and independence,” she said.
“This partnership has truly made a difference in the lives of our students, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be involved.”
L2P is always looking for community members who have an extra hour or two to assist students in realising their driving dreams.
