The vacant building been a popular topic among Kyabram community members: just what business will fill the large and prominent space on the corner of Allan and Union streets?
Well, the community finally has their answer.
Following a 10-month vacancy, The Reject Shop is set to revitalise the space, offering new jobs and shopping options for Kyabram residents and visitors flocking to the town during the summer.
A company representative told the Free Press that while the opening date was still up in the air, the discount store hoped to be filling trolleys by early December.
The spokesperson added that if the December opening was not achievable, shoppers could expect The Reject Shop to open its doors in February or March at the latest.
Kyabram Chamber of Commerce president Deanne Stagg said having another business option for visitors or travellers heading through the town was always good news.
“It keeps people from going to Shepparton or out of town for shopping,” she said.
Mrs Stagg said it would be good to finally see the CBD space being used.
The first signs of the discount chain’s presence in Kyabram showed when a job listing for a store manager for Kyabram was posted on September 18.
K-Hub closed in February, which left 13 store members facing an uncertain future and shoppers scratching their heads.
