The students will face the other regional winners, which range from Mildura to Bendigo, at the Swan Hill Racecourse Bowls Club on April 7.
The winner of that event will make it to the state finals, which will be held at Deer Park Bowls Club.
Kyabram Primary School is the current state champion but Tongala PE teacher Peter Tinning said his students were up for the challenge.
“There is a little rivalry between those of us that run it. The kids are happy to just go out there and compete,” he said.
“At the end of the day it’s not about winning but going out there and representing your school, which our students do beautifully.”
Mr Tinning credits his students’ resiliency, sportsmanship and respect for their opponents for helping them to get this far in the competition.
This isn’t the first time Tongala has done well in bowls, with the school making it to the state finals and being one of the best 16 schools in the state back in 2019.
“Our little school did pretty well,” Mr Tinning said.
“To make it into the best 16 in the state against schools that are triple our size I think is pretty impressive.”
The students were competing against schools that had more students in their Grade 6 cohort then what Tongala has in its entire school.
