Under the Community Event Sponsorship, Kyabram Agricultural, Horticultural & Pastoral Society, Kyabram Parkland Golf Club and Kyabram Development Committee were all granted money.
According to the recent council meeting agenda, the Kyabram Garden Club was unsuccessful in obtaining a sponsorship grant for its 61st birthday celebration.
The money was distributed to the three Kyabram organisations as follows:
● Kyabram AH&P — $1000 to go towards the cost of children's entertainment at the Kyabram show in October 2021, and the use of council's white picket fence to close off the area.
● Parkland Golf Club — $2,500 to help host the Victorian Par 3 Championships from June 5 to June 13, 2021.
● Kyabram RV Country Music Festival (Kyabram Development Committee) — $3000 towards it hosting the festival from November 3 to November 7, 2021.
Kyabram Deakin Ward councillor Colleen Gates, who moved the motion, said although it was a shire-wide initiative, May was "Kyabram month".
“We expect to see a lot happening in Kyabram in the coming months once we get through a bit of winter,” she said
“It's great to see a community being active and accessing council's event money to create some vibrant things for people to attend.”
Cr John Zobec, who seconded the motion, said it was a nice outcome for the town.
“It's wonderful to see three Kyabram community groups involved; it's a pity the fourth one didn't fit the criteria,” he said.
“Between the three of these community events that will be occurring they're certainly bringing a lot of people in and certainly helping the town."
Deputy Mayor Leanne Pentreath said the money distribution served as a reminder to all Campaspe Shire community groups to contact council about how they could receive grant assistance.
