An ATM was allegedly broken into and money stolen in the early hours of Tuesday, August 6.
Police said two men allegedly used sledgehammers and crowbars to force their way into the foyer at Ritchie’s IGA at 5.09am.
Once inside, police allege the pair used the same tools to force open the ATM in the store.
Police said they allegedly stole two drawers, containing more than $2500 in cash, from the machine, before fleeing from the scene in a vehicle.
Police said several staff were working in the supermarket at the time of the alleged incident.
Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit police conducted a search warrant at a Shepparton house later on Tuesday.
A 28-year-old Shepparton man was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary and theft.
He was also charged with 12 other offences over several separate alleged incidents.
The man has been remanded in custody to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, August 8.
