It is the Toolamba/Echuca train, with goods carriage at the back, taken in 1978 by Peter Enlund.
At that time, passengers changed trains at Toolamba to travel to and from Melbourne.
I see that the windows of the train can be opened for fresh air.
The station master on the platform is Bert Wileman, who was well known for his involvement with the Kyabram Fire Brigade.
The train passenger service ceased on the Echuca/Toolamba line in 1981 and was replaced in Kyabram by a bus service.
Kyabram continued to have a station master until the station doors were closed for the last time at 3 pm on December 23, 1992 with the retirement of Mr Wileman.
At that time — with the exception of Echuca — Kyabram was the only station on the Toolamba/Echuca line to have a station master.
The building was offered for lease, but a number of clubs who were interested in the use of the building found the constraints put upon the lease were not viable.
The building remained unoccupied until it was demolished at the end of September, 1997 — 110 years after it was opened in 1887.
