The stirring statement made by Stanhope RSL member Phillip Chapman resonated with more than 100 people who attended the belated Anzac Day service on Sunday, April 27.
The service began at 2pm with an official catafalque party presented by the 419 squadron Shepparton RAAF cadets.
The Rushworth and District Concert Band provided stirring music for a brief march around Stanhope Memorial Park, after which attendees gathered at the RSL hall for the formal service.

She told the crowd about her experiences on the Kokoda Trail and what she learnt on her trip.
Campaspe Shire Council’s Cr Adrian Weston read the Anzac Requiem and The Last Post and Reveille was played by the Rushworth and District Concert Band.
