Held at Gargarro Botanic Garden at the Soundshell amphitheatre, the youth talent competition is seeking applicants aged between 12 and 18.
A $1000 cash prize is on offer for first place in the competition, with $250 in winnings available to those who come in second and third places.
Four hours of professional studio recording time will also be awarded to a performer the judges panel feels is ready to record, facilitated by Born n’ Bred’s Rochester studio.
Organising committee member Lisa Smith said the event hosted various acts who travelled from around the state last year, including from Melbourne and Gippsland.
“It was amazing last year. We had 19 acts, and they were solo, maybe three duos, and even a band from Bendigo.
“There were classical pianists, we had a saxophonist, ukulele players, singers — it was a really great diversity.”
Each act performs one song which the judges rate to determine the top three performers, who sing again in the final showdown for an audience that Ms Smith said is “incredibly supportive”.
“The way they support each other, the young artists, is really wonderful. It’s a beautiful community feel.
“I have to say, there were some seriously top acts last year. So, the quality is there, the camaraderie is there.”
The Showdown at the Soundshell kicks off for one day on Saturday, November 16.
Applications are open now until October 20 and must be completed online by providing a video link to a recorded performance which will be assessed by the Showdown’s judges panel.
