As part of Legacy Week, which concludes on Saturday, members and volunteers of the Shepparton Legacy Club are selling badges and Legacy bears for a small donation to help support the veterans’ families and widows they care for.
Volunteer Jack Thewliss will be helping to sell badges and said there would be lots of places around Shepparton to donate.
“Legacy Week is the only week we go to the public for donations,” he said.
“We will be selling badges throughout the week to help our widows out.”
Legacy is an iconic Australian charity. It started in 1923, based on the promise of looking after one another’s family after injury or loss of life during the war.
This year marks the 100th year of Legacy, with the Legacy Century Torch Relay also taking place. The relay started on Anzac Day this year in Pozières, France, before travelling to London and then to Australia.
The relay will arrive in Shepparton on Saturday, September 23, with many widows and other people to have received help from the Shepparton Legacy Club planning to carry the torch.
To help support Legacy Week, you can purchase your badge at one of the places below.
