The Tigers are ranked sixth in the GVL for disposals, averaging 313.7 a week (35 behind ladder-leader Echuca, the highest disposal team). On Saturday the Tigers had 414 disposals, including 116 in the third quarter when they kicked seven goals to United’s no score.
On average Rochester takes 80 marks a game, the weekend’s total again topping its 2022 charts when the Tigers pulled in 129 marks.
The big difference came in uncontested marks, with the season average of 70 eclipsed by the round 16 tally of 112. On average the Tigers take 15.3 forward 50 marks (third in the competition), but that figure doubled on the weekend to 36.
Christopher Jansen, despite spending less than three quarters on the ground, was among two players to have double-figure mark tallies. He took 12 marks, all uncontested, and Adam McPhee took 11 marks (also uncontested).
In round four this season the Tigers beat United by 42 points, converting 53 inside-50 entries to 34 scoring shots (64 per cent). They almost matched that conversion on the weekend when 71 inside-50s resulted in 44 scoring shots (62 per cent).
United has seen more of Shaun Atley this year than any other team, he had 32 disposals in round four and another 31 on Saturday at Moon Oval.
Ten of Mitch Cricelli’s 39 goals for the season have come against United, six in round four and then another four on the weekend.
