As the major fundraiser for the Salvos each year, Captain Jacky Targett said she was stoked to hit the $5000 tally.
The exact dollar amount is yet to be finalised, but she said it was likely closer to $5500.
“People were most generous, it gave me a real insight into Kyabram and people coming out to support us,” she said.
Doorknocking was banned for a second year in a row due to coronavirus restrictions, with the Salvos relying on donations at static collection points outside supermarkets as well as online donations.
“There's a digital system which worked really well in Melbourne where there was a lot of advertising but doesn't translate as well out here,” Ms Targett said.
“It's a really, really good result for us considering it's a difficult year to get donations."
She said The Salvation Army hadn't decided what to do with the fundraising total just yet, but she said the money raised by the Red Shield Appeal would stay in Kyabram to help locals in need.
