Colbinabbin Resource and Recovery Centre now accepts DrumMUSTER containers year-round, offering greater flexibility to Campaspe Shire’s farming community.
Following COVID-19 disruptions to the annual collection, the centre's recent upgrade now features a dedicated DrumMUSTER cage, ensuring continuous service.
This allows for continuous container acceptance, while minimising fire risk and adhering to environmental regulations.
Campaspe Shire Council sustainability director Michael Sharp urged community members to take advantage of this new service.
“We’re grateful for the community’s ongoing cooperation and anticipate the positive impact this year-round service will have on our region,” he said.
Mr Sharp said it was important for drums to be triple rinsed before being brought to the collection site.
“This move is vital in upholding the high standards of safety and environmental responsibility our community values,” he said.
The initiative aims to support local farmers and promote responsible waste disposal practices.
The DrumMUSTER program is a national initiative that collects and recycles eligible, clean agricultural and veterinary chemical containers.
The Colbinabbin Resource and Recovery Centre operates on Tuesdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
The program accepts clean, empty, triple-rinsed plastic and steel containers between one and 205 litres in size.
For safety reasons, the centre strictly prohibits containers that have held persistent herbicides or other hazardous materials.
It’s crucial for farmers to check the eligibility of their containers before bringing them to the centre.
