“The Local Legends program is a Toyota Australia initiative that focuses the lens on community sports clubs,” Deniliquin Toyota general manager Vicky Holloway said.
Deniliquin Toyota has been participating in this program for several years and it’s a great opportunity for local business and sport to come together and build lasting relationships to the benefit of locals.
“The program encouraged participants to visit our service centre and showroom and just by visiting they were eligible to place a token in the jar of the local football/netball club they wished to support,” Mrs Holloway said.
“Booking into our service centre provided additional tokens to customers as well.
“We had a token jar for Rovers, Rams and Blighty.”
All participating clubs received a prize – first place $1,000, second place $500 and third place $250.
“Rams came out in front with 92 tokens, which was an impressive lead - more than 40 tokens ahead of second place.
“No matter the result, we are always happy to provide support for groups like these and hope that the funds help in some way.”
The Deniliquin Rovers Football Netball Club took second place and Blighty Football Netball Club was third.
The program is one of many in the Toyota Good For Footy initiatives and Deniliquin Toyota is working hard to ensure opportunities like this are offered in town.
The Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club took to their Facebook page to say “a huge thanks to the real legends here, Deniliquin Toyota. We appreciate your loyal support of our club”.
