I’m not sure if the sculptures created by Kyabram library last week, during the Campaspe shire’s school holiday program, will earn the same recognition that Pablo Picasso earned, but children involved in the Make a Sculpture program had stars in their eyes after the hour-long session.
Picasso learned paper-cutting and folding from an early age and continued and used these techniques throughout his career.
The man responsible for some of the world’s best-known paintings and sculptures would have been proud of the group, which created its own versions of his famous work.
Macy O’Dwyer, a Year 5 student from Kyabram, has been a regular at Campaspe shire holiday activities and was fittingly proud of her creation.
Georgie Rose, 4, from Echuca, has attended events at not only Kyabram but also Lockington, Tongala and Echuca, during the holidays. Grandmother Lisa McNally usually has five or six grandchildren — aged two years to 14 — with her at the creative sessions, but had whittled that down to two.
