Nine teams, totalling about 40 people, met at the Seymour Sports and Aquatic Centre for the amazing race. They set off around Chittick Park after 10am, with activities at the tennis complex and cricket club. The first two teams won family tickets to the Seymour Show.
From 11am, numerous activities were available, including laser tag, Meltdown and archery hired from The Zone Fun Park in Bendigo.
AFL activities, giant Snakes and Ladders and the quieter activities room were well used.
There were smiles, an encouraging family atmosphere and a few exhausted faces.
Organisers would like to thank SU Australia, which provided background support, including training and equipping the small team of volunteers. Mitchell Shire Council, Seymour Girl Guides and the town’s cricket club, junior football club and tennis complex all helped.
The day’s success encouraged organisers to explore the next steps for creating a permanent community-owned and operated fun centre in Seymour.
Organiser Michael Easton has put a proposal in to the Chittick Park redevelopment plan.
