With only a limited budget of $25,000 and grants of up to $3000 available, council said five applicants unfortunately missed out.
It received a total of 14 applications, requesting a combined total of just over $40,000.
The grant recipients, announced just before Christmas, are:
• Rotary Club of Deniliquin - $2,600 to help with refurbishment and reburial of its time capsule.
• U3A - $2,983 for the Seniors Community Talent Concert.
• Outback Theatre for Young People - $3,000 to host a Museum of the Missing creative installation by young local artists.
• Deniliquin Genealogy Society - $3,000 to purchase a new scanner.
• Deniliquin Film Society - $3,000 to present new and old films at the Deniliquin Town Hall throughout 2025.

• Deniliquin Amateur Swimming Club - $2,600 to support its 140th annual swimming carnival.
• Motherland - $1,800 for a Southern NSW Motherland event to be hosted in Deniliquin. In addition, council will provide in-kind support for the hire of the Deniliquin Town Hall, valued at $900.
Unsuccessful requests included a new clay target thrower for Deni Field & Game, fairy lights for the Deniliquin CBD for Deniliquin Business CHamber, replacement of the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club’s self-propelled mower, a new barbecue at Four Post Camp managed by the Deniliquin Local Aboriginal Land Council and replacement of the clubroom carpet at the Deniliquin Boat Club.
Each application in the 2024-25 grant round was individually assessed by a panel of four council officers using a set assessment criteria based on community benefit, sustainability, innovation, inclusivity and where the applicant had partners in the project.
All projects must be completed by June 30, 2025.
