The draft strategy was developed following consultation with the community, along with local arts and culture groups.
Mayor Cr Frank Crawley said the strategy provides clear direction on the council's role in supporting local arts and cultural activities.
“Alongside our community we’ve looked at how we can build upon the existing strengths of our arts and cultural programs and boost the profile of creative industries across the area,” he said.
“Partnerships will lie at the heart of our approach over the next 10 years, and we will work with local groups and outside agencies to ensure we can address various elements such as cultural planning and infrastructure, heritage preservation, public arts, festivals and events.
“This is our first arts and culture strategy and we welcome feedback from our community to ensure we’ve got it right.”
The focus areas of the strategy are growth and sustainability in the art sector, industry involvement, community involvement and heritage and environment.
Feedback on the draft Arts and Culture Strategy is open until April 24.
