A Tesltra spokesperson said the outages would continue over the next three days and the works would continue until the end of June.
"Because we need to replace antennas and switch off services at the site to build the new 5G infrastructure, there’ll be some full-day and some half-day planned disruptions," they said.
"We need to work during the day because our crews will be working at height, so there’ll be some days we need to switch services off, while at other times we’ll be working on different parts of the upgrade so we might only need to interrupt services for a few hours."
The spokesperson said text messages had been sent to customers to alert them to the disruptions.
"We know there’s never a perfect time to schedule upgrade work and we apologise for the interruption but once we’re finished we know customers will notice a big difference and improvements to their mobile connectivity," they said.
EARLIER: Planned maintenance by Telstra has left thousands of people in and around Kyabram without telephone service on Wednesday.
The outage was planned as part of ongoing maintenance, which will occur over the next five days in the town and district.
Service is affected by outages as far south as Redcastle and the eastern side of the Waranga Basin, and continue all the way up to Wyuna and Undera.
A text message sent to Telstra users said upgrades began on Wednesday and would continue until Sunday at 6pm.
"Your mobile service may be impacted at various times during this period," the message said.
