Declared open for business by David Wegener in August 2000 under the name of the Moama Paddlesteamer Country Bakery — the store has since grown exponentially in popularity and size.
In 2008, Moama Bakery expanded into Echuca and opened a new store on Ogilvie Ave, and in 2010, a third store was opened on High St.
The bakehouse now employs more than 100 staff members, operates 22-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week and has a vast client base throughout the Echuca-Moama region — including pubs, clubs and cafes.
Jacqui Wegener said they were trying to track down anyone who has ever worked with them to celebrate Moama Bakery’s history and achievements.
“We have had a number of past employees get into contact with us over Facebook, but we are trying to reach out to more,” Ms Wegener said.
“We want to thank and celebrate everyone who has ever worked with us over the years.
“We are anticipating that there will be at least a couple of hundred past and present employees attending the event.”
Ms Wegener said they were planning on holding the birthday bash last year, but were unable to due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Moama Bakery’s 22nd birthday party will be held at the American Hotel on Saturday, August 20 from 7pm.
Any former staff members who are eager to attend should email admin@moamabakery.com.au to RSVP.
