The Cobram Showgrounds function room was packed wall to wall on Friday, September 27, as residents from across the Moira and Berrigan shires came out to support melanoma awareness.

The aroma of baked pastries mingled with light conversation and music provided by Paul Vitullo.
No fewer than 80 guests listened to speaker Dr Wod Al Khateeb of Shepparton’s Dr Wod Cosmetic Clinic, who highlighted the importance of having regular skin checks.
All funds raised from ticket sales will go towards research at the Melanoma Institute Australia.
Julie Cameron, who co-organised the event, said she was pleased with the turn-out.
“As you can see, we are at capacity and couldn’t fit any more people in,” Mrs Cameron said.

Mrs Cameron said it was heartwarming that she didn’t initially know everyone who attended.
Musician Paul Vitullo graced the event with a performance of classics.
Behind the scenes, all the food and drinks were provided by a team of volunteers headed by Mrs Cameron and Erin Higgins.

“We’ve had some very kind friends ... put their hands up to help us out [with catering],” Mrs Cameron said.
Mrs Higgins wished to thank all those who donated to Melanoma Institute Australia and purchased tickets for the event.
“If we had got 50 [to come along] we would have been happy,” she said.
“Thanks to everyone — thank you for your donations.
“It’s great that we might be getting the word out a little bit more.
“If it prompts just one person to go and get a skin check, then it’s been worth it.”
