In the centre is the main entrance to the park and the manager’s residence, with the machinery shed and work area on the right.
On the left is the Education Centre, which was formally opened in 1985.
The picnic shelter is in the foreground near the water, with small aviaries on the right.
Near the car park is Pilley Reserve, with playground, picnic tables, public toilets and tree house.
The tree house, which is “well remembered by many”, was constructed on the John Pilley Reserve in readiness for the official opening of the Kyabram Fauna and Flora Park by state Member for Ballarat Murray Byrne on Friday, March 5, 1976.
Mr Byrne was joined on the platform by the official party and a number of children.
Many homes in Fauna Park Drive had not been built at this time, as can be seen at the corner in the top right of the photograph.
Many changes have been made since 1992, including the new entrance to the park, which is currently being built.
