Through the commitment of 3rd Cavalry Regiment honorary life member Michael Thompson the town has plans to further develop its already impressive range of war memorials.
Mr Thompson, with the hands-on support of Tongala Primary School’s Brett Radley, worked with school principal Rob Hogan to secure funding for the soon-to-be-finished memorial.
Roses will be planted around the border of the facility, which was the focus of the school Anzac Day ceremony, with wreaths made by students laid at the base of the 20-plus-year-old Aleppo pine tree.
Students, teachers and community members conducted a ceremony the day after the community had marched along Mangan St from the RSL building before an Anzac Day ceremony was conducted in the shire hall.
