Kyabram RV Country Music Festival treasurer John Veenstra is calling on anyone to come out and donate any time they can.
“Car parking, placement of bins and helping put up temporary fencing prior to the event,” Mr Grills said.
“I think people think we may ask them to do difficult jobs they aren’t experienced in, which isn’t the case.”
One of the volunteers at the event, Alan Weeks has donated plenty of his time — even doing eight-hour days to help it go ahead — but he just cannot keep doing so much.
“If we get a few people to chip in here and there it will help massively in running the event smoothly, which brings so much to the town,” Mr Weeks said.
Back in 2019, the Kyabram RV and Country Music Festival was one of the most successful in the event’s eight-year history, having contributed more than $79,000 to the town’s economy.
About 230 RVs turned out to last November’s festival, with their estimated economic contribution to the town totalling to $63,480.
In addition, all participants received a promotional show bag, which included discounts and offers at local stores — that spend totalled another $24,017.
According to data provided by the event committee and collated by Campaspe Shire, the average spending per RV was $276.
Event organiser Allan Weeks said the response from locals and tourists that year was overwhelmingly positive.
“It was voted by the people who came along that it was our best one so far and it had the most vehicles,” he said.
Due to COVID the momentum of the event has been stalled, but event organisers hope this year will revive not only the event, but the town as well.
“This one would have been our 10th RV festival if it wasn’t for the pandemic, but let’s look to the future as we have so much to look forward to with it returning,” Mr Grills said.
The festival will run from the November 2 to November 6. An Open Mic event will be hosted by Rod and Rhonda Owen on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The artists who were meant to perform during the main event last year have been confirmed to make an appearance at this year’s event.
This includes Brian Letton, Owen Blundell, Kiara Rodregus, Grant Luhrs, Don Costa, Sandie Dodd, Evan Platshinda, Ged and Trudy Hitz, Rod and Rhonda Owen as well as many more.
Anyone interested in being involved in the event is encouraged to phone Mr Grills on 5853 2045.
