The lunch will be held on Thursday, March 21, from noon to 1.30pm. Harmony Day is part of Harmony Week and coincides with the United Nations Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
“It is a day to celebrate the rich multicultural history of Australia, and because we support everyone in the community, we wanted to make sure that we also support all the multicultural parts of our community,” ENH administration assistant Alyx Jorgensen said.
“We are happy for people to come through, even on their lunch break and just be able to grab something for lunch or stay and celebrate Harmony Day with us.
“We want to encourage new people to come and see where we are because it will be at our new site in Landsborough St.”
For the free community lunch, ENH will be partnering with Shebani’s Catering.
“They are going to offer chicken souvlaki wraps, and we are going to make vegetarian options available as well,” Mrs Jorgensen said.
“Everyone is welcome to come and see where we are because not many people know where that is, and hopefully, we will get some new faces through the neighbourhood house.
“There is no cost to anyone for the lunch.
“I just want people to come, where we can have a chat and they can see what we actually do.”
The Harmony Day lunch is one of many meals ENH offers the community.
It has a seated two-course lunch on Mondays and takeaway lunches on Wednesdays for $2, except over school holidays.
Other services ENH offers include English and maths tutoring, computer courses, a food bank, a community garden and a monthly harvest food swap.
Harmony Day lunch is at Echuca Neighbourhood House, 39 Landsborough St, Echuca, March 21, from noon to 1.30pm.
