‘‘Families have been preparing a huge range of baked goods and potted plants to be on sale at the stall, along with sausage sizzle and raffle for a Thermomix!’’ P&C president Sonia Frost said.
‘‘After all the COVID restrictions, it’s a great opportunity for locals to support the local Blighty school and see how the school is doing.’’
The P&C’s last public event was in 2019, prior to public health orders coming into effect.
It has been patiently waiting to put on an exciting event once again.
Visitors can see some of the popular improvements Blighty PS has made over the last two years, including a new sandpit, a concrete scooter path, and a thriving veggie patch.
The famous Blighty strawberry plants will be available for sale.
‘‘These strawberries are amazing — big producers of delicious big strawberries that love our local conditions.
‘‘You only need one plant and it will produce lots of runners for you to expand your very own strawberry patch,’’ Mrs Frost said.
The strawberry plant was first established at the school in 1984 by Maree Hovenden, who is the school’s administration officer, with help from the then general assistant.
It was a transplant from her own strawberry patch at the Hovenden’s family farm Monaro Park at Blighty, established about 48 years ago.
‘‘Lots of other plants will be available too, so if you like gardening or some easy care plants there will be lots to choose from,’’ Mrs Frost said.
The stall will includes some ‘‘beautifully potted’’ succulents, great for a Christmas gift.
Also available will be mixed herbs, raspberry seedlings, bulbs and gorgeous flowers, plus a great selection of easy care plants ideal for our local conditions.
Baked goods will include decorated gingerbread biscuits (these will keep for Christmas), cakes and slices.
‘‘What a great opportunity to stock up on some homemade treats for all those busy harvest workers.’’
A TM 6 Thermomix is being raffled by the school as part of the event.
Tickets are $25 each and only 200 tickets will be available.

‘‘This is a great opportunity for residents to come to Blighty School to vote and grab an easy sausage in bread for lunch, or call into the Blighty Hotel for lunch,’’ said Mrs Frost.
‘‘Blighty Football/Netball Club also has its presentation day from 4pm on Saturday too, so save that trip to town and vote at Blighty.’’
