The free three-week program provided families with the opportunity to escape the heat and enjoy the fun activities in a relaxed atmosphere.
Based in Mooroopna, Family Haven opened in 2020 as part of the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project.
The centre is focused on providing a welcoming environment for parents, grandparents and carers with children under school age.
The school holiday program catered for school-aged family members as well.
Family Haven co-ordinator Courtney Wilson said the centre also offered support and referrals to young families needing assistance.
“We’ve had many families requiring assistance with applying for relief payments since the floods,” she said.
“We’ve also helped families navigate housing supports so they can find permanent homes, and we’ve assisted with sourcing essential household items, including furniture, clothing and food.”
Family Haven is open Tuesday to Thursday from 10am to 2pm, offering a cooked lunch and transport to and from the centre if required.
