The day highlighted the importance of considering both individuals and the wider community.
It also offered discussions around how significant events, such as the pandemic and floods, had impacted an already challenged health system.
Campaspe Shire Council community health manager Janelle Wheatley spoke to the group about council’s observations and priorities around community health, and what she had learned from leading multiple teams involved in a range of programs.
Warren Davies, who is known as the Unbreakable Farmer, spoke about developing resilient leaders and regions, with a focus on mental health in smaller communities.
He shared strong messages, including “life gives us two choices, we can either become bitter, or we can become better” and “you are responsible for what you take from life, not what you take from others”.
The group were also joined by Anne McEvoy and Chris Motton from Kyabram District Health Service, who discussed the perseverance of the health sector following recent challenges, including the pandemic and floods.
Ultimately the session highlighted the value of leadership through these times, which has been a strong focus for the executive team at KDHS.
