The annual event provides a great day out, and Father’s Day Market and Expo joint co-ordinator Daniel Liphuyzen said this year was no exception.
“It was a reasonable day Sunday after a cloudy Saturday.
“The sun came out, and we missed the horrible wind on Monday, so we were lucky.”
A big part of the day was the raffle, with winners declared on the day.
Francie Cullenward won the toolbox from Ag Spares Deniliquin, Prue Grant won the esky from Nutrien Deniliquin, and Phoebe Hicks won the lunch for two on the Paddlesteamer from Echuca.
Popular events included the dog jump, a crosscut saw competition, tug-of-war and a duck race.
“The dog jump was won by John Bowie’s dog Jim, which cleared seven feet, and Bec Stacey’s dog Jacko came second, also pushing seven feet.
“The crosscut saw competition had lots of competitors enter, and was won by a father and daughter pair.
“The Harvey Trotter Tug-O-War had four teams featuring in heats which saw the Allitt-Pretty Pine team beat the Willis-Moonee Swamp team in a hotly contested final that had a fair bit of weight in it.”
“There were hundreds of entries for the duck race on the newly upgraded course with plenty of obstacles and water.”
The day also saw a Fram Truck competition run by the Deniliquin Truck Show & Industry Expo, proudly supported by the Deniliquin Rotary Club.
Errol Bashford was declared the winner of the Pretty Pine Haulage sponsored prize.
It was a busy weekend, but those in attendance enjoyed themselves, and the organisers plan to continue to thank the sponsors for making it a great day and are looking forward to next year.
