Reese Baldock, a former student at Echuca College, was awarded the Campaspe Cohuna LLEN VET in Schools Excellence Award late last year.
Then, in mid-February, he took home Bendigo TAFE’s VET Engineering Student of the Year award for 2024.
Now working full-time as an electrical apprentice, Reese said it was a great feeling to be recognised for his efforts in school.
“It was pretty unexpected. I just did my best throughout school, tried my hardest,” he said.
“Obviously it paid off after time and I got that, so I was pretty stoked.”
Echuca College careers and pathways co-ordinator Lorelle Pearse said Reese was an outstanding student who regularly sought guidance on career opportunities.
“Reese was conscientious and organised and used this support to be well informed and to always act on things with immediacy,” Ms Pearse said.
“He really was a shining example of how careers in schools is so important in successful transitions for young people.”
Senior school co-ordinator Warren Duffy and VET co-ordinator Emily Bongiovanni both said Reese’s awards were a reflection of his hard work throughout school.
Reese said he had been enjoying his apprenticeship so far, and that he was happy to be getting a start in his career.
