And it happened on the first day in the Cricket Shepparton clash between Kyabram and Tatura on Saturday.
United at the batting crease when Kyabram was stuttering at 3/50, skipper Mueller and Newman both posted centuries as the home side built an imposing score of 7/348 off its 80 overs against the vistors’ youthful attack.
The pair put on 151 for the fourth wicket, with Mueller first to depart. But not before cracking 14 fours and six in a batting clinic in which he made 103.
Newman then combined with new Irish recruit Aaron Gillespie for a 110-run fifth-wicket stand.
Gillespie impressed in his debut, in which he made 46 with six fours and a six.
Newman departed with 114 runs to his credit, which included 15 fours and two sixes.
After the dismissals of Newman and Gillespie, Alec Young chipped in with an unbeaten 25 as Kyabram boosted its score to 7/348, which presents a massive challenge for the Tatura batsmen this Saturday.
Tatura used seven bowlers on the day, with Jayden Armstrong the only one to claim more than one wicket. His two wickets came at a cost of 97 runs off 23 overs.
