The Minister’s Fellowship Good Friday service was to be celebrated in Memorial Gardens in usual style, but the weather forced us indoors.
It was relocated to Living Waters where close to 300 people came together from across the community.
There was a lovely atmosphere and a sign of wonderful unity across the churches as we all participated in remembering Christ’s sacrifice for us.
Reading the biblical accounts of the crucifixion, singing songs that speak of the significance of the Easter story, an Easter message and a drama were all parts of the Good Friday service.
Good Friday is recognised across Australia as a significant day in the Easter holidays, however for Christians, it is the most important day.
God demonstrated his love for the world by sending his son to die in our place so we could live free from the chains of our sinful ways.
Hot cross buns and refreshments were offered after the service where people lingered for some time keen to connect with one another.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a ‘Good Friday’, if there was no resurrection on the third day. The churches celebrated Resurrection Sunday in their own churches on Sunday morning.
