The Kyabram Community and Learning Centre and Kyabram District Health Service have been granted $40,000 funding from Carers Victoria, which is supported by the Victorian Government.
This grant will help to further enhance the resources for caregivers in the community.
The funding will create more personalised support for caregivers by bringing them together, reducing social isolation.
The KCLC team’s goal is to organise activities and workshops that create and strengthen current caregiver connections while also forging new bonds. The primary emphasis, however, will be on employing a new co-design approach that will create activities based on the needs and requests of caregivers in the community.
To kick off the program ‘Carers Voice Carers Choice’, a lunch is being held on a paddle steamer in Echuca. The event is designed to bring caregivers together for a meal and a cruise along the Murray River. It will take place on November 23, and caregivers can take a bus from Kyabram or meet at the Echuca Port.
Please contact KCLC or KDHS if you are an unpaid caregiver and you and the person you care for would like to join.
Caregivers provide unpaid care and support to someone they know. Carers are often overlooked even though they give vital support.
