Grand final night of the Rochester Basketball Association had a significant dose of sadness as players, parents, volunteers and officials acknowledged the passing of immediate past president Greg Tiller.
Greg was a part of the association’s current committee, a former coach and manager, the immediate past president and creator of many opportunities for basketballers in Rochester.
He was the reason many of the town’s basketballers were running around this season and many past seasons.
He was a passionate supporter of the girls’ program and was proud of a girls-only division this year.
Greg has been part of making secondary basketball happen, with fun days and many opportunities, along with being a strong advocate of representative basketball.
And if his daughter Payton wasn’t playing, he was watching other teams and supporting them.
He was well known around the courts and his conversations always produced great ideas for the association.
His big grin will be missed by many parents and the players, but especially his biggest star, Payton. We wish to send our love to Payton.
The association offers condolences to Payton, Christine and Greg’s family and thanks Payton for sharing her dad with the association.
