The year began with Prep students preparing for their journey ahead and couples celebrating their wedding anniversaries.
A particularly bittersweet moment came with the unexpected passing of local music lover and busker Simon Jones. His absence left many locals heartbroken, as the familiar tunes outside Kmart fell silent. For a time, no melodies were played until a memorial was held in his honour. Many gathered to celebrate his life, performing some of his favourite songs in tribute to our beloved local legend.
The Annual Tractor Pull in Wunghnu marked its 39th event, drawing crowds to admire the cars, engines and tractors on display.
As a photographer at The News, I often visit cherished places such as Kyabram’s Fauna Park, home to an array of cute, cuddly and sometimes scaly critters. The meerkats are a definite favourite of mine — though I’m always open to persuasion. Maybe.
At The News, we have the privilege of telling the community’s stories, like that of Chloe Lee, a second-year automotive refinishing apprentice. She shared her passion for encouraging more women to enter trades.
I’m deeply grateful for what 2024 has offered in my career as a photographer. Meeting wonderful people in the community has been an absolute joy, and I look forward to what 2025 and beyond will bring.
