Sarah Tee named Tongala Citizen of the Year

SARAH Tee has been recognised with the Tongala Citizen of the Year award for her almost three decades of service to the local elderly community.

Presented by Campaspe Shire Mayor Christine Weller at the Tongala Australia Day Awards held at the public hall, Ms Tee said she felt privileged to be named alongside past winners, many of whom were personal friends.

Ms Tee recently stepped down as director of nursing of the Tongala and District Memorial Aged Care Service.

“Thank you to everyone for recognising the contribution that I have tried to make . . . over the past 27 years,” she said.

“I have worked hard to make a difference in the lives of people who live in the community. I have only been able to do this with the support of my family, friends, the committee and my work colleagues.

“Many know that I have decided to step down and retire. I am extremely thankful for the opportunities that I have been given and I have been fortunate to meet some incredible people along the way.”
