He kicked 31.28 in 2023, but with 11 games of the home-and-away season remaining, he is on track to kick 70-plus goals with the Bombers this year.
Depasquale has taken 34 marks inside 50 metres and has improved his accuracy dramatically on previous seasons — kicking 31.14.
In 22 games last season he only took 43 marks inside 50 as most of his work was done as a higher half-forward — leaving Kyle Mueller and Brad Mangan work in tandem out of the goal square.
In 2023, he averaged 1.5 goals a game (3.8 this season), 13.6 disposals, 4.6 marks, 3.3 goal involvements and less than two inside 50s.
His 16.7 disposal average this season is above average and his statistical return for 2024 is highlighted by a 8.3 mark average (3.7 contested) and an average of 6.1 goal involvements every week.
Eight goals in the opening three games of the year has been followed by 23 in the last four weeks.
Depasquale is third behind high marking forwards Ben Christopher and Daniel Johnston for marks inside 50.
Mansfield star Christopher has taken 39 marks, while Johnston (who has played two games in the VFL Coburg this season) has 36 to his credit.
A seven goal-147 ranking point game against Tatura is Depasquale’s best return of the season. He had three direct goal assists and a massive 14 score involvements — the third time this season he has had double figures in this category.
Twice this season, Depasquale has registered four inside 50s in a single game and only once has he failed to register a triple figure ranking point total — with 56 points against Euroa in the three point round three loss.
Depasquale is yet to play against the bottom team on the GVL ladder, Benalla, which has suffered severely at the hand of the three players directly behind him on the goalkicking table.
Daniel Johnston has kicked 30 goals in his six games with Mooroopna, including a bag of nine against Benalla and three five-goal hauls.
That 170 ranking game against Benalla could have been close to the double century if not for inaccuracy. Johnston kicked 9.6, took all 12 of his marks inside forward 50 and had 20 disposals.
Eight of Mansfield spearhead Ben Chrisopher’s 24 goals came in another whitewash against Benalla, and he has kicked goals in all of his seven games this season.
Christopher kicked 8.4, has 14 goal involvements, took 11 marks inside 50 and scored a massive 180 ranking points on the back of 22 disposals and four tackles.
Seymour’s Riley Mason kicked eight goals against Benalla in round five and has 23 goals from his six games this season.
Mason’s 201 ranking point game against Benalla featured work in and outside of the attacking arc. He had five inside 50s, 19 score involvements, took 16 marks (10 inside 50) and finished with 28 disposals.
Sean Williams kicked 39 goals in 18 games for a struggling Rochester team last season, but on the back of five wins this season he has already bagged 21 goals.
In the last two weeks he has kicked nine goals as the Tigers have climbed to third on the ladder.
Williams is a true full-forward, his statistical return this season is 68 kicks and nine handballs. Forty-one of those kicks have been scores, with inaccuracy a problem for the experienced forward.
He kicked 4.6 against Benalla and 0.4 against Tatura in round four.
Brad Mangan, who has missed the Bombers last two games, is the next player on the goalkicking table with 11 goals.
Teenager Nic Jephson has eight goals in his debut season.
Jackson Trengove won the goalkicking with 59 last season, from Euroa’s Jett Trotter (55) and Kyabram’s own Kyle Mueller (51).
In 2022, Echuca star Ruory Kirkby kicked 85 goals to win the title by three from Mooroopna’s Christopher Neild (82) and Trotter (54).
