For the residents of Devenish, it’s going to be hard to recognise one of their own very soon.

After 15 years, Kevin Phipps is shaving off his beard in a big spectacle at the Devenish Market.
He won’t be alone, with Mick Whitney, Nathan Ford and Barry Randall all braving the shave for the market’s first Great Beard Shave.
During the April market, the mates will say goodbye to their beards and bare their bare faces for people to see, some for the very first time.
“People haven’t seen me without it,” Mr Phipps said of his beard.
“People are pretty excited about it.”
Mr Phipps said the beard shave was a creative way for the men to contribute to the Dookie and Devenish Good Friday Appeal, which annually raises funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
“I just want to help the kids, and to help the hospital raise some funds,” he said.
“So I thought, what the heck, I’ll shave my beard off for the Royal Children’s Hospital.”
Mr Phipps has always been involved in the DDGFA through his role on the committee for the Devenish Market, but said he had never done anything to this scale.
“This is probably the biggest thing I’ve done for the appeal,” he said.
The Great Beard Shave will take place at the April Devenish Market, on Sunday, April 6 at 11.30am, with the market open from 9am to 1pm.
